Description
The Foundation for the Region – Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw honors reading promotion projects from primary and special schools in the Pforzheim-Enzkreis-Calw area with the competition "My School Reads!" Creative and proven concepts that strengthen reading skills and focus on the joy of reading are recognized. Each awarded institution receives a reading session with a children's book author as well as a book voucher worth €1,000 to equip the student or class library. The one hundred percent funding rate ensures that no own funds are required and that the children immediately benefit from new literary impulses.
All primary and special schools, as well as individual classes or class groups located in the region, are eligible to participate. Applications can be submitted continuously via an online form providing information about the school, class, and project description (maximum two DIN A4 pages). It is also asked whether the concept is new or established, and the privacy policy must be accepted. An independent jury awards the prizes based on the criteria of degree of innovation, demonstrable promotion of reading skills, and fun factor. This creates a sustainable impulse for the local reading culture and motivates schools to inspire children's literary interest in the long term.
