Championships and Competitions

The Lower Saxony Lotto Sports Foundation supports the organization of championships from the association or state level onwards, as well as the participation of young athletes in German, European, and World Championships in Lower Saxony. With a grant framework of up to €8,000 per project, both sports clubs with headquarters or registration in the state and young athletes in training, studies, or school are supported. This funding aims to sustainably strengthen the sports location of Lower Saxony, recognize voluntary commitment, and enhance the competitiveness of clubs and talents at the national and international levels. Applications can be submitted continuously; however, an early start to the measures is not permitted.

Eligible costs include, among others, organizational expenses, necessary acquisitions related to the event, honoraria for referees and judges, transportation and travel costs, accommodation and meal expenses, entry fees, as well as supporting programs. General seasonal funding (league operations), preparatory training camps, club championships, sports tournaments without championship status, and international competitions without official championship character are not eligible for funding. Selection is based on the persuasiveness of the club’s commitment, a well-conceived sustainability concept, and the regional relevance for Lower Saxony. Individual consultation through the office is recommended. Applications must be submitted exclusively via the foundation’s online application procedure, with own funds demonstrated in the project budget.
