Description

In Styria, adults with significant mobility impairments benefit from a 100% rent subsidy as a grant from the state. The program targets tenants as well as owners of suitable apartments and supports covering the rent remaining after deductions from third parties, operating costs according to tenancy law provisions, as well as annuities for owner-occupied homes and cooperative housing. A prerequisite for funding is a total income that does not exceed one and a half times the standard rate according to § 10 para. 1 no. 1 of the Styrian Disability Act. The entitlement exists in full only for living space appropriate to the individual's personal circumstances, thereby contributing to targeted resource allocation. As part of the funding areas Social Affairs, Housing Construction & Modernization, Work & Social Affairs, as well as Infrastructure & Urban Development, this instrument makes an important contribution to barrier-free participation and financial relief in the housing sector.

Applications are made unlimited and continuously to the Office of the Styrian State Government, Department 11 Social Affairs, allowing for short-term adjustments to changed life situations. The funding is explicitly aimed at persons aged 18 and over with significant mobility impairments whose total income does not exceed the legally defined upper limit. As a grant, this support consistently reduces financial barriers to access adequate housing and promotes the social integration of people with disabilities in urban and rural areas. The procedure is designed to be unbureaucratic: after reviewing the application documents, the 100% subsidy is paid out. The legal basis is the Styrian Disability Act in conjunction with the agreement pursuant to Art. 15a B-VG on matters of disability assistance. By covering 100% of all eligible expenses, planning security and sustainable relief in everyday life are created, thereby strengthening participation in social life.
