Description
The STEM initiative of the state of Salzburg supports projects and a coordination office with grants to sustainably strengthen the interest of young people, primarily girls and young women, in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Since 2017, the initiative has funded a variety of activities such as hands-on workshops, Maker Days at schools, parent working groups, and training sessions for teachers. It brings together partners from education, business, and the social sector in a coordinated network and raises societal awareness of the importance of STEM professions. The STEM coordination office ensures efficient public relations, accompanies networking processes, and thus contributes to a sustainable development and expansion phase across all regions of Salzburg.
Eligible for funding are registered associations and companies based in the state of Salzburg whose projects are integrated into the overall action plan "STEM Salzburg." Applications can be submitted year-round, as the funding period is unlimited. The prerequisites for funding include proof of regional location and integration into the statewide STEM strategies. For the application, a fully completed form and a detailed project concept outlining the target group and planned activities are required. Through direct grant allocation, targeted financing of local initiatives is ensured, contributing to a long-term increase in the proportion of women in STEM professions.
