STEM Regions Make an Impact!

“STEM Regions Make an Impact!” is a nationwide open award by the Körber Foundation that honors outstanding networking efforts in STEM education. It seeks private coordinators of regional STEM networks who, through cooperative structures and innovative projects, contribute to supporting students in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Each year, the program focuses on a changing thematic priority – for 2025, the focus is “Strengthening Vocational Training!”. Awarded projects receive a prize of €5,000 to further develop their own ideas, as well as a platform on the eve of the STEM Barcamp and support in publishing their successful approaches. The goal is to highlight practical beacons that inspire imitation and sustainably enrich STEM education locally.

Applications can be submitted continuously; the participation requirement is the coordination of a network registered on mint-regionen.de. The selection is based on three criteria: the innovativeness of the networking work, impact on the target group, and potential for replication. Winners benefit not only from financial support but also from professional exchange in community calls and individual advisory sessions with the Körber Foundation. This aims to foster sustainable cooperation between schools, companies, extracurricular learning sites, and other partners. “STEM Regions Make an Impact!” makes committed actors visible who, through creative approaches and strong networking, ensure that STEM education becomes a reality in all regions of Germany.
