Description
Membership Fee for International Organizations
Since 2013, the Republic of Austria has continuously covered the membership fees for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and, where applicable, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD). As a permanent funding measure based in Vienna, this grant program is exclusively aimed at public institutions and international organizations. An annual invitation to settle the membership fee ensures reliable financial support. In close coordination with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Department V/A/4, the funding contributes to establishing orderly and lawful management in the areas of asylum and immigration.
The overarching funding objective is to ensure high-quality enforcement, particularly to optimally protect vulnerable groups such as women and minors from crisis regions. Through continuous financing, a solid foundation is created that improves coordination and the scope of action for international experts, thereby enabling immediate improvements in refugee and migration work. Interested organizations benefit from this permanent funding opportunity, which is based on regular membership payments and supports a smooth process in political cooperation as well as the sustainable strengthening of the international protection system.
