Description
The state of Burgenland grants low-income families with custody obligations for children attending early childhood education and care facilities, primary and middle schools, as well as general special schools, a regular subsidy towards lunch meal contributions. Through a graduated funding rate of 25% to 75%, the financial burden of daily meals is significantly reduced to relieve parents and guardians while simultaneously promoting sustainable childcare. The support is limited to one kindergarten or school year and is directly accounted for in the meal billing process. With a project duration of 12 months, the program ensures that families receive reliable assistance over an extended period.
Eligibility for funding requires the primary residence to be in Burgenland and entitlement to family allowance for the respective child. Furthermore, verifiable registration and utilization of the lunch meal in the respective facility must be demonstrated, while the net household income must fall within the specified tiers. For the application, which can be submitted from the first day of school of a school year until no later than June 30 of the current school year (application period begins: 04.09.2023), documents including proof of social support, benefits received from foreign authorities, monetary maintenance payments, basic supply benefits, as well as a property value assessment notice must be provided. The application, which must be submitted once annually, is filed with the Office of the Burgenland State Government, Department of EU, Society and Funding Affairs, and a binding funding commitment is issued once all documents have been reviewed.
