Participation in Disaster Protection (Guideline KatS Grants)

The funding program Participation in Disaster Protection (RL KatSZuwendungen) supports municipalities, non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations as well as volunteers in the Free State of Saxony in the provision, training, and organization within the field of disaster protection. Public institutions and civil society actors based or operating in Saxony can submit applications on an ongoing basis to receive grants for projects aimed at improving disaster preparedness and response. The goal is to enhance the operational capability of all involved units and to strengthen the safety of the population in emergency situations through professionally grounded measures.

Funding is provided for both the acquisition of equipment as well as advanced and continuing education and organizational measures that optimize the coordinated deployment of helpers and authorities in disaster protection. A prerequisite for funding is proof of activity in disaster protection within the Free State of Saxony. The Saxony State Directorate assumes the technical and administrative supervision of the program, advises on the application process, and monitors the proper use of funds. Through continuous calls for proposals, a flexible funding landscape is created that can quickly respond to current needs and contributes to the long-term strengthening of civil hazard prevention in Saxony.
