Description
The Mobile Early Intervention of the Fonds Soziales Wien supports children with developmental delays and/or disabilities from birth until school entry through individualized special and remedial educational support in their familiar living environment. Typically, the support sessions take place directly in the children's homes: targeted exercises promote motor skills, perception, and language, while specialized materials support perception-based learning processes. For children with sensory impairments in particular, services such as developmental diagnostics, hearing, speech and vision training, or communication training are the focus. The range of services is complemented by the accompaniment and counseling of caregivers to ensure sustainable developmental support in everyday life. A special regulation (“3-2-1 rule”) enables accompanying support during the first months of school following kindergarten (three sessions in September, two in October, one in November).
Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations and public institutions recognized under § 7 of the Vienna Equal Opportunities Act. Applications can be submitted online at any time via the MeinFSW portal using the FSW application form. Mandatory requirements include the presence of a child’s developmental delay and/or disability, Austrian citizenship or equivalence according to § 4 CGW, as well as main residence or habitual residence in Vienna. The application must include, among other documents, reports from the recognized institution, birth certificate, registration certificate, and proof of developmental delay or disability. Approval is initially granted until the end of the calendar year in which the child turns three and can be extended if necessary until school entry. A multiprofessional expert panel reviews the application based on professional criteria, necessity, and quality of the support concept. Funding is provided as a grant paid directly to the institution.
