Description
The fellowship of the German Federal Environmental Foundation offers university graduates from Central and Eastern European countries the opportunity to further develop their professional skills in environmentally relevant fields. During a six- to twelve-month stay at German universities, research institutes, NGOs, authorities, or companies, the fellows work on practical projects on topics such as climate protection, resource use, or biodiversity. Up to 50 places per year promote knowledge transfer in science, administration, and practice and strengthen international networking among environmental experts. Selection is based on above-average academic degrees, the quality of the project proposal, and a personal interview conducted in German or English.
Funding benefits include a monthly scholarship of €1,350, foreign health, accident, and liability insurance, as well as the costs for a multi-week intensive German course in Osnabrück. The foundation provides non-material support in finding a host institution, invites fellows to seminars and important events such as the awarding of the German Environmental Prize, and promotes the establishment of a sustainable alumni network via the online platform Stipnet. Applications are possible by March 5 and September 5 each year. Required documents include a CV, project description, certificates, a letter of recommendation, and proof of language proficiency in German or English. This scholarship is aimed at Master’s/Magister’s/Diploma graduates with a degree obtained no more than five years ago, as well as doctoral candidates whose dissertations will be completed after the fellowship.
