Description

The #moinzukunft Hamburg Climate Fund supports non-profit organizations in Hamburg in implementing innovative projects in the fields of climate protection, environmental and nature conservation, as well as energy efficiency. Funding is provided for measures that include both concrete solutions to mitigate the global and local impacts of climate change and educational and informational offerings to raise public awareness. The funding program is aimed at legally capable, common-good-oriented civil initiatives, sports or school clubs, educational, social and youth welfare organizations, religious communities, foundations, and associations. The goal is to promote the integration of sustainable measures into the everyday life of Hamburg’s urban society and to contribute to achieving the climate targets in accordance with the 2030 Agenda.

Funding is provided in the form of a grant of up to €20,000 per project per year, with projects that have not yet started generally eligible for support. An important prerequisite is a self-contribution of at least 10% of the eligible costs. Eligible expenses include fees, personnel costs, and material costs, while investments in construction measures or ongoing costs after project completion are excluded. Applications are submitted digitally, requiring a fully completed application form, a detailed financial plan, as well as proof of non-profit status and signing authority. Eligibility for funding also depends on the proper management of the applying organization and the demonstrable climate-related benefit of the project.

The program offers an attractive opportunity to advance the vision of a sustainable and future-proof Hamburg and to strengthen local initiatives in their commitment against climate change. With a maximum duration of 12 months and a funding rate of 90%, it provides a significant financial contribution to the implementation of innovative ideas. In addition to supporting projects that achieve concrete CO2 reductions or promote climate-friendly behavior, the Climate Fund also emphasizes measures that raise awareness of climate impacts through targeted information and educational approaches. Interested organizations have until December 31, 2025, to submit their applications. This low-threshold application process offers non-profit actors in Hamburg a valuable opportunity to advance their projects and actively contribute to sustainable development and climate protection.
