Description

The Museumsquartier Vienna Operational Deficit Coverage represents a permanent funding instrument for Museumsquartier GmbH, a public-law establishment and operating company jointly owned by the Republic of Austria and the City of Vienna. The objective of this measure is the comprehensive coverage of planning, construction, and maintenance costs as well as property management and ongoing operations on the site of the former Hofstallungen. Based on the federal law BGBl. 372/1990, the company is granted a gratuitous usufructuary right to the property, and an annual financial plan is prepared, which, in agreement with the responsible federal ministers for Finance, Economy and Labor, as well as Education, Science and Culture, fully covers the incurred expenses.

As a grant with a funding rate of 100% and an annual volume of €3.963 million, the funding covers all construction costs, maintenance expenses, as well as personnel and material costs. Eligible for funding is exclusively the establishment and operating company according to federal law 372/1990. A prerequisite for granting is an annually coordinated financial plan with the responsible ministries. Applications can be submitted at any time without a deadline. This sustainable financing ensures stable operations and the continuous provision of exhibition, interpretation, and mediation spaces to anchor contemporary art in society over the long term and to secure the framework conditions for artists.
