Description

The pilot project "Music with KiTas" by the Heyge Foundation brings professional musicians from the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra together with the Augsburg State Theatre into the daily routine of early childhood care in three selected daycare centers in Augsburg and the surrounding area. The goal is holistic health promotion through active musical experiences: regular, interactive music offerings are intended to strengthen motor and cognitive skills, deepen social interaction, and spark interest in cultural education. At the same time, educational professionals are supported through sustainable further training measures to independently continue the musical offerings even after the project’s conclusion. The selection of the three facilities is based on internal funding criteria, participation is cost-neutral for the KiTas, and the funding rate is 100%.

The program runs over a period of 24 months and combines the thematic areas of health, culture, education, as well as work & social affairs. Educational teams benefit from personal mentors who offer tailored training and initiate exchanges between KiTas and professional musicians. In each season, ensembles from the Augsburg Philharmonic visit the KiTas on four occasions, while joint concert experiences take place twice per season. Through this binding integration of musical practice and pedagogical support, the project contributes to early childhood health prevention, promotes team strengthening in everyday educational work, and establishes music as a valuable resource for the entire institution.
