Description

The Music Project Funding of the Niedersachsen Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and foundations based in Niedersachsen. The goal is to strengthen a vibrant and innovative musical life between the North Sea and the Harz Mountains. Supported are concerts, concert series, and festivals dedicated to contemporary classical music with world and premiere performances, as well as cross-genre and participatory music formats and educational offerings in rural regions and larger cities. Professional ensembles, organizers, and institutions that introduce young people to classical concert experiences and experiment with extraordinary performance practices (such as bicycle concerts or dark concert settings) find reliable support here. Funding applications can be submitted online year-round, with decisions made at fixed dates by the various committees of the foundation.

Project-related personnel and material costs, concept and educational formats, fees for artists, as well as venue and production costs are eligible for funding. A prerequisite for funding is proof of non-profit status (tax exemption certificate not older than three years), an appropriate own contribution, and the involvement of additional funding partners. The environmental strategy is emphasized by the mandatory submission of the evaluation of the digital Ecological Sustainability checklist. Evaluation criteria include the level of innovation of the music projects, participatory educational concepts, and ecological sustainability. Individual concerts, instrument purchases, equipping music classes, or projects in the school context are excluded. A detailed cost and financing plan, a well-founded project description, and the checklist must be submitted with the application. This initiative thus provides a comprehensive framework to advance musical education, cultural diversity, and sustainable sound experiences in Niedersachsen.
