Description
With the funding guideline Sustainable Mobility in Saarland (NMOB) – Alternative Drives, Saarland promotes targeted investments in alternative drive technologies for public local transport. Eligible applicants are legal entities under public and private law as well as economically active natural persons with a place of business or branch in Saarland – including municipalities, transport companies, interest groups, and other operators of public transport infrastructure. The initiative covers the thematic areas of Smart Cities & Regions, infrastructure, digitalization, and urban development, and subsidizes charging and refueling infrastructure, hydrogen electrolysis plants, land acquisition, training for driving and workshop personnel, as well as digital software solutions. Innovative model and pilot projects are fully funded upon request (up to 100%), standard investments receive 40% to 45% funding (with higher rates for SMEs). A funding amount of up to EUR 1 million per project is possible.
For the application, a comprehensive project description, a detailed cost calculation, and a demand-oriented operational concept must be submitted. Ownership or usage rights to the funded infrastructure must be contractually secured. Additionally, for electrolysis plants, proof must be provided that electricity is sourced 100% from renewable energies, and a sales forecast for hydrogen must be presented. The funding rate varies depending on the measure between 40% and 100%, without limitation on company size. Applications are continuously accepted in writing or digitally by the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection until 31.12.2025. Evaluation criteria include innovativeness, economic efficiency, climate protection contribution, and efficiency. The guideline makes a significant contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions and to sustainable mobility infrastructure in Saarland.
