Description
The funding program Sustainable Mobility in Saarland (NMOB) – Sensibly Linking Modes of Transport supports public institutions in Saarland with innovative infrastructure projects that sustainably strengthen multimodal transport. Within the framework of this grant program, concepts are promoted that contribute to a socially acceptable, ecological, and economical mobility transition through the efficient linking of different modes of transport. The focus is on developing, expanding, or modernizing so-called mobility stations as central contact points for environmentally friendly transport and motorized individual traffic. The measure also focuses on smart cities, digitalization, and urban development to integrate the increased use of modern technologies in transport planning and to ensure an attractive, barrier-free offer in the long term.
The program is aimed at municipalities, transport infrastructure companies predominantly under municipal ownership, as well as public transport authorities. Eligible investments include construction and expansion costs, design elements, equipment costs, and the installation of charging points. The provided funding amount is up to €1,500,000 per mobility station, with a funding rate between 75% and 90% of eligible expenses. Requirements include, among others, the free provision of the mobility station for users, compliance with the specified minimum equipment, as well as the planning and implementation of a barrier-free concept – possibly realized within a transition period of three years. Additionally, accompanying documents, including the application, planning documents, and proof of use, must be submitted prior to the commencement of the measure.
The initiative makes an important contribution to regional mobility development by focusing on the conversion and expansion of existing transport infrastructure. Through the targeted use of funding, urban planning, transport engineering, and digital components are optimally linked to enable innovative and forward-looking solutions. Through the funding, not only are intermodal transitions improved, but regional networks are also strengthened, contributing to a more sustainable quality of life and a significant enhancement of public transport. Furthermore, the measure supports the integration of e-charging infrastructure and digital information systems, thereby further increasing the attractiveness and user-friendliness of the mobility stations. Thus, the NMOB program represents a future-oriented investment in a connected and environmentally conscious mobility landscape.
