Description
The Sustainability Bonus is a nationwide grant initiative by the Austrian Hotel and Tourism Bank (ÖHT) that specifically supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism and leisure industry. Eligible applicants are those who are members or prospective members of the Federal Division for Tourism and Leisure of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and combine it with an ÖHT investment loan. The aim is to promote sustainable investment projects in the areas of ecology, employees & regions, and digitalization & economy. Project ideas can be submitted until June 30, 2028, provided that at least 20% of the eligible total investment costs are allocated to sustainable measures.
Eligible are capitalizable investments in buildings, operating and business equipment, machinery, and software. The grant amount is up to 7% of the recognized costs (max. €350,000); applications submitted from July 1, 2025, can apply for up to 3.5% (max. €175,000). The project evaluation considers the incentive effect, sustainability focus, and economic efficiency. Required documents include a detailed project description, proof of WKO membership, a financing plan, and cost evidence. For ecological measures, the energy certificate before and after the investment must be attached. Submission is made online via the ÖHT customer portal.
