National and International Programs

The funding supports educational and non-profit institutions in Vienna in the implementation of scientific research projects within selected research clusters. Both fundamental and applied investigations are the focus, which make a significant contribution to strengthening Vienna as a research location. Scientists and research institutions receive financial grants to address innovative questions, expand interdisciplinary cooperation, and advance long-term developments in the fields of research & innovation as well as science. The program’s financial resources amount to a total budget of 2.3 million euros, ensuring planning security for the execution of high-quality research projects.

Participation requires the submission of a competitive project proposal in accordance with the applicable call. Submitted applications are continuously reviewed, as ongoing submission is possible at any time (valid since 01.01.2013). Eligible are university and non-university institutions as well as non-profit organizations based in Vienna that aim to establish themselves in selected research priorities. Through this transparently organized process, the Austrian Academy of Sciences purposefully promotes excellent basic and applied research work to provide sustainable impulses for the scientific community and beyond for society. Interested research teams are invited to submit their projects year-round and benefit from this long-term grant opportunity.
