Description
The funding program of the Sports Funding Guidelines V is aimed at Berlin-based, recognized sports organizations deemed worthy of support, which plan national or international competition highlights. In the capital metropolis, grants are provided to cover unavoidable financing deficits – with a funding rate of up to 90% and a minimum equity share of 10%. All costs associated with the planning, execution, and follow-up of the event are eligible for funding. The goal is to strengthen Berlin's role as a sports location while simultaneously highlighting a sustainable added value for urban life, culture, and media.
A prerequisite for a positive funding decision is, among other things, the demonstrable added value for the sports metropolis Berlin as well as proper management and appropriate use of funds. The evaluation is based on the criteria Added Value for City and Sport, Equity Share, and Proof of Fund Utilization. The event must be registered for entry in the planning list no later than October 15 of the previous year, and the complete application must be submitted to the responsible Senate Department for the Interior, Digitalization and Sport at least three months before the start of the event. This creates a binding time frame for transparent review and prompt funding approval – with sustainable benefits for all parties involved in Berlin.
