Description
The funding program for Near-Natural Watercourse Development and Strengthening the Regulatory Capacity of the Landscape Water Balance (RL GewEntw/LWH) in Brandenburg supports municipal water maintenance associations, public law corporations, as well as non-profit nature conservation associations and clubs in the implementation of near-natural measures. The focus is on the renaturation of flowing waters, improved water retention in the landscape, and increasing runoff capacity to sustainably strengthen regional water management. Both practical construction measures and conceptual preparatory work and surveys are funded. Applications for projects financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) must be submitted by fixed deadlines, whereas applications under the Joint Task for the Improvement of Agricultural Structures and Coastal Protection (GAK) can be submitted at any time. A prior review and coordination of the project proposal by the Regional Working Group (RAG) ensures alignment with the EU Water Framework Directive and Flood Risk Management Directive.
The funding amount can be up to €8 million, with a grant rate of 90% to 100% of eligible expenses. Eligible costs include planning and project design expenses, construction measures for near-natural watercourse development, measures for improved water retention, as well as investigations and surveys. A prerequisite for approval is the location of the project within the EPLR funding area framework "Rural Area of Brandenburg" or in protected areas with specific nature and water protection objectives. The funding application must be submitted to the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB). Additional required documents include cost estimates, proof of the funding area framework, and compliance with guidelines. This program offers an attractive financing opportunity for projects aimed at sustainable water and landscape development.
