Description
In Vienna, owners, condominium associations, property management companies, businesses, cooperatives, and public institutions can benefit from a non-repayable one-time grant covering up to 35% of the eligible costs for thermal-energetic renovations of multi-family residential buildings. The goal is the sustainable increase of energy efficiency and the significant reduction of CO₂ emissions in the housing stock. Funding areas include energy efficiency & renewable energies, climate protection, housing construction & modernization, as well as environmental and nature conservation, linking urban development concerns with forward-looking infrastructure development. Applications can be submitted continuously to the Wohnfonds Wien, enabling flexible planning and implementation of renovation projects, even on short notice. Supported measures include, among others, the insulation of exterior walls, ceilings, and floors, renewal of windows and exterior doors, elimination of thermal bridges, external sun protection, as well as the renovation or replacement of heating and hot water supply systems.
A prerequisite for funding approval is compliance with the requirements of the 2024 Renovation and Decarbonization Ordinance regarding primary energy demand, CO₂ emissions, and overall energy efficiency. In addition to the official application form, a review report from Wohnfonds Wien confirming conformity with permissible construction cost limits and ordinance provisions, as well as detailed evidence of renovation costs, must be submitted. Construction may only commence after written approval or notification of consent for early construction start. This ensures that all services and expenses are transparently monitored. This funding instrument offers effective support for all interested parties aiming for future-proof building modernization in Vienna while simultaneously making an active contribution to climate protection.
