Description
The Fisheries District Association II supports projects in Lower Austria that promote the preservation, protection, and restoration of a waterbody-typical, species-rich population of aquatic animals. Funding is provided to conservationists, associations, interest groups, as well as legal entities committed to environmental protection, research and innovation, science, and climate protection in aquatic habitats. The funding is based on the Lower Austrian Fisheries Act 2001 and relies on the principle of voluntariness: it serves as an important incentive for measures that would otherwise not be implemented. By applying the principles of thriftiness, economy, and appropriateness, it is ensured that each measure is implemented purposefully and sustainably.
Funding applications can be submitted at any time before the project starts, without fixed deadlines. The subsidy rate ranges between 2.5% and 75%, depending on the package of measures. Eligible expenses include investment, planning, and construction supervision costs, expert reports, as well as temporary land redemption sums including lost revenues. Non-eligible costs include, among others, overheads such as taxes, fees, legal and notary costs, as well as expenses incurred before the application submission. In awarding grants, the regional and supra-regional significance of the project, the ratio of effort to success, the share of own contributions, and the budget situation of FRV II are decisive. Required documents for the application include, among others, a water rights permit, site and project plans, construction description, financing plan, cost estimates, and photographs. This ensures that sustainable habitats and species-rich fish populations can be secured in the long term.
