Standardization

The standardization funding in Vienna is aimed at public institutions and non-profit organizations that actively participate in the development, dissemination, and management of the Austrian standards system. Since its entry into force in January 2012, this open-ended grant measure enables targeted involvement in national and international standardization processes. The focus is on quality assurance and the widespread availability of standards for business and administration. Through financial support, the necessary resources are provided to continuously advance standardization activities and to anchor Austrian standards at the international level.

Eligible for funding are particularly standardization organizations and public bodies that, according to § 15 para. 3 of the Standardization Act 2016, are jointly financed by the federal government and the federal states. An annual federal contribution of 1.6 million euros is borne 40% by the federal states. Until the legal re-regulation, the cooperation is based on contractual agreements. Applications can be submitted at any time, as the funding opportunity is continuously offered. Interested organizations thus receive maximum flexibility to strategically plan and implement their participation in standardization activities. The funding makes a significant contribution to increasing the competitiveness of Austria as a business location and strengthens innovative capacity through reliable, internationally recognized standards.
