Description

NRW.BANK.Baudenkmäler offers a low-interest loan for investment measures aimed at the maintenance and renovation of listed buildings or buildings with particularly valuable architectural substance in North Rhine-Westphalia. The financing share amounts to up to 100% of eligible expenses (minimum amount €25,000, maximum amount €2 million). Eligible applicants include medium-sized enterprises, companies with a majority public background, non-profit and public institutions, religious communities, as well as natural persons. A prerequisite for funding is that the building is listed as a monument or has particularly valuable architectural substance and that the overall financing for the planned measures is secured. In the case of predominantly residential use, at least one dwelling must be owner-occupied. Applications must be submitted before the start of the measures via the applicant’s house bank.

The term of the annuity loan can be chosen as 10, 15, 20, or 30 years with a one-year repayment holiday; the interest rate remains fixed for the entire term. Conditions for loan approval include compliance with monument protection regulations (§ 9 DSchG NRW), adherence to the ESG funding requirements of NRW.BANK, and timely submission of all required documents (project description, financing plan, monument protection certificate, ESG declaration, de minimis and grant declaration). The acquisition of listed buildings, outdoor facilities, refinancing, and follow-up financing of already completed projects are not eligible for funding. Through the combination of monument preservation requirements and financial support, this program contributes to the preservation of the built cultural heritage and the strengthening of the historic urban landscape in North Rhine-Westphalia.
