Description

Within the framework of the Energie hoch 4 incentive program, the Hamburg Climate Protection Foundation provides free educational offerings that are specifically integrated into everyday school life. Core components include the two-day training to become energy detectives, thematic climate protection workshops, and practical project days. Participants learn, using measuring devices and protocols, about the relationship between energy consumption, waste management, and climate protection. The offerings playfully raise students' awareness of resource-conserving behavior and provide teachers with methods for independent implementation through in-school training sessions. This creates sustainable structural support that goes beyond short-term actions and firmly establishes climate protection competence in the long term.

All educational institutions based in Hamburg are eligible for funding; the program is primarily aimed at students in grades 3–6 and their teachers. Participation is possible annually between September and April, with inquiries accepted continuously or by appointment. Through close cooperation with the State Institute for Teacher Training and School Development as well as Schulbau Hamburg, the educational component of the energy-saving program is optimally integrated. Interested schools receive all services free of charge and are comprehensively supported in planning and implementation. This offering thus makes an important contribution to actively involving young people in climate protection and sustainably aligning school structures in an environmentally friendly manner.
