Description
The Paul Fiderspil Foundation for Young String Players is committed nationwide to supporting the musical development of young string players and addresses both educational institutions and private individuals. It was established in 2006 by Gertrud Fiderspil in memory of her brother, a passionate amateur violinist. The foundation’s endowment income is used to support string classes in schools, aiming to strengthen technical and artistic fundamentals already in group lessons. Sponsorship covers all age groups of children and youth and promotes not only musical education but also social skills through making music together. Eligible to apply are schools, music schools, or ensembles that can demonstrate a sustainable string class concept, as well as individuals who have already achieved initial successes in lessons and wish to network across schools. Funding is awarded on an ongoing basis, allowing support opportunities throughout the year and flexible responses to project needs.
Furthermore, within the framework of the Mendelssohn Competition for young string players and pianists, the foundation regularly awards special prizes. These recognize outstanding achievements at the national level and motivate talents to further advance their artistic development. The Paul Fiderspil Foundation thus aims both to keep alive the memory of a musical personality and to inspire young musicians, as every prize money contribution helps to realize individual advanced training, masterclasses, or instrument acquisitions. Applications are possible at any time – interested parties can obtain information on requirements and the funding process directly from the Bad Soden Music Foundation.
