Description

The Commuter Allowance Styria supports employed persons with their main residence in Styria in mitigating the costs of daily or weekly travel to the workplace. It provides retroactive funding for the previous calendar year and can be applied for until December 31 of the following year. Eligible are individuals with a one-way commute of at least 25 km, an annual gross income of a maximum of €35,000 (excluding family allowance), and without or unused entitlement to free travel. The subsidy averages €120 per year, with a maximum payout of up to €389. The payment is made as a one-time grant via bank transfer to a specified account, whereby each commenced month of the commute is fully credited.

For the application, in addition to the completed form, a confirmation of main residence from the municipality, an employer’s certificate regarding annual gross income and workplace, the annual wage slip or income tax assessment, an AMS proof of training periods, as well as the family allowance notice are required. Application documents are available at AK branch offices and municipal offices. The Chamber of Labour Styria handles the formal processing and contributes one third of the funding. The aim of the measure is to reduce mobility costs for employees and ensure affordable accessibility to the workplace, thereby harmonizing residential and work locations.
