Description

The training course “Taking a Stand – Remaining Capable of Action: Self-Understanding and Attitude in Memorial Site Education” is aimed at memorial site staff, school teachers, and extracurricular multipliers who accompany visitors at Nazi memorial sites. In Weimar (Thuringia), from February 27 to March 1, 2026, interactive sessions will reflect on personal interpretations of history, political convictions, and societal shifts. The program combines expert discussions on right-wing historical politics, practical exercises on dealing with historical revisionism, and exchanges about challenging situations in educational settings. Participants analyze personal motivations, discuss scopes for action, and develop strategies to strengthen democratic core values such as plurality, diversity, and equality in historical-political education. The event is supported by a grant from the European Youth Education and Youth Meeting Centre Weimar Foundation and falls within the thematic areas of engagement for social cohesion, democracy, education, as well as training and further education.

Funding can be applied for by private individuals, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations. The prerequisite is an application via the registration form by February 6, 2026. The goal is to deepen pedagogical competence in dealing with right-wing extremist and right-wing populist argumentative patterns and to enable multipliers to take a clear position in uncertain moments. The participation fee of 260 EUR (reduced 210 EUR) covers the seminar fee, full board, and accommodation in a double room. Single rooms are limited and available at an additional cost. Under the umbrella of the EJBW, a space is created for intensive discussions, professional exchange, and the joint development of sustainable concepts for the culture of remembrance in the context of Nazi history.
