Description

The Max Weber Foundation offers nationwide 3-month internships for German students in the humanities and related disciplines. Both mandatory internships as part of the study regulations and voluntary, study-accompanying placements are possible. At the foreign institutes and in the Bonn office, interns are integrated into academic, library, and administrative work areas and are supervised by experienced mentors. The tasks range from research activities and collaboration on research projects to catalog maintenance and user support in specialized libraries, as well as event organization and public relations. Through involvement in real work processes, students gain comprehensive insights into international research structures, sustainable networking contacts, and access to state-of-the-art technical and library resources. Additionally, the institutes provide space for independent projects that can directly contribute to the student's own thesis or research work.

Participation requires enrollment at a German university during the internship as well as ongoing studies in a humanities or related field. The Foundation grants a monthly allowance of €450 and reimburses travel expenses, provided no other remuneration is received. Interested applicants submit a CV, enrollment certificate, letter of motivation, and a contractual agreement directly to the desired institute or the office. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are evaluated based on a relevant bachelor's degree or ongoing master's studies, as well as the alignment of the field of study and research interests. This funding strengthens professional competencies, promotes intercultural experiences, and supports students in realizing their academic projects.
