The NiedersachsenMetall Foundation honors outstanding commitment by teachers as well as by school project teams at general education schools in Lower Saxony in the STEM subjects (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Technology) with the NiedersachsenMetall Foundation Award. In two categories – Teacher Award and Project Award – both pedagogical and professional achievements are recognized. Nominations and applications can be submitted immediately; the ceremonial award presentation will take place in autumn 2026 in Hanover. As an award in the form of a prize, this initiative supports the long-term goal of more strongly integrating innovative learning concepts in the scientific-technical field into everyday school life and thus setting impulses for the educational landscape in the Lower Saxony region.
Eligible to participate are individuals or teams from general education schools in Lower Saxony whose commitment in the STEM subjects demonstrably goes beyond everyday teaching. The evaluation focuses on the special dedication of the teachers or project team as well as on the level of innovation of the school concepts. Completed application forms for the Teacher Award or the Project Award must be submitted in PDF format. No separate deadline has been specified, so interested parties should submit their documents promptly. Through this continuously open funding opportunity, the NiedersachsenMetall Foundation contributes to the recognition and further development of pedagogical best practices in STEM education.
