Description
The Kinderplanet Foundation supports nonprofit, public, and educational institutions in Bavaria, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Thuringia with the project “Gardenland in Children’s Hands”. The program assists daycare centers that wish to establish garden and nutrition education activities within their pedagogical work. Each selected institution receives a one-time start-up grant of €500 to procure gardening materials such as seeds and plant seedlings as well as educational teaching aids. The goal is for children to independently create garden beds, directly experience local nature, and acquire knowledge about healthy and sustainable nutrition through play. Environmental and nature conservation aspects are integrated into daily routines alongside social and health components, resulting in a holistic educational approach.
The funding program runs over a period of twelve months and is exclusively aimed at institutions located in Germany that apply for participation. Selection is based on the quality of the pedagogical concept, feasibility in everyday daycare operations, and clear sustainability criteria. Funding priorities focus on the acquisition of necessary gardening tools and teaching materials. Basic requirements include a formal application letter, a detailed project description of the planned gardening activities, and proof of the daycare institution. The initiative offers an opportunity to establish long-term educational and environmental projects, inspire young people for nature-related topics, and strengthen the sense of community within the institution.
