Description
Project funding from the proceeds of BINGO! – The Environmental Lottery is aimed at non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations based in or connected to projects in Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Under the sponsorship of the North German Foundation for Environment and Development (NUE), initiatives are supported that are engaged in the fields of nature and environmental protection, education for sustainable development, development cooperation, as well as energy efficiency and climate protection. Initiatives for vocational training and further education, as well as projects in agriculture and rural development, are also funded. In the spirit of Agenda 21, funded activities are characterized by exemplary nature and contribute to forward-looking approaches in the environmental and educational sectors.
Only non-profit entities such as associations, foundations, and non-profit limited liability companies (gGmbHs) that anchor their projects locally or initiate and accompany development policy foreign projects from Northern Germany are eligible for funding. A prerequisite for approval is proof of a close connection with Hamburg or Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and for international projects, a link to development policy educational work in the region. Applications can be submitted quarterly by specified deadlines. The goal is to promote sustainable projects that raise awareness of environmental and development issues and strengthen long-term cooperation. Selection is made by awarding committees that evaluate projects based on content quality, impact potential, and additional alignment with regional needs.
