Project Funding – AWO Saarland Foundation

The AWO Saarland Foundation continuously provides grants in Saarland for non-profit organizations that implement projects and measures benefiting people in precarious social situations. It primarily supports institutions of AWO Saarland to enable timely and unbureaucratic effective assistance to homeless people, children and families affected by poverty, as well as residents of women’s shelters. The goal is to promote participation, social integration, and basic needs coverage through financial resources, thereby alleviating emergencies. Project funding covers the areas of social affairs, work & social services and is particularly aimed at closing existing gaps in provision and realizing new approaches to support vulnerable target groups.

A prerequisite for funding is sponsorship by an institution of AWO Saarland as well as proof of special need and the exclusion of alternative funding sources. The eligibility for funding is assessed based on clear criteria: certified confirmation of need and exclusion of other support claims (state aid). The following documents are required for the application: application form, project description, income/expense overview, original receipts, and a brief report. Submissions can be made at any time; a continuous awarding perspective ensures that urgently needed measures can be implemented without being tied to funding rounds. Through this flexible funding structure, the foundation offers local sponsors the opportunity to implement individually tailored projects and sustainably contribute to improving social conditions in Saarland.
