Description
Since 1998, the Albert and Barbara von Metzler Foundation has been supporting long-term, non-profit projects that make a sustainable contribution to the common good. In particular, initiatives in the fields of education and upbringing, social assistance, cultural and art education initiatives, healthcare, research & innovation, as well as nature and animal protection are supported. The regional focus is on the Rhine-Main area as well as other locations with foundation branches in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Hesse, and North Rhine-Westphalia. Funding is exclusively granted to organizations with proven non-profit status, including associations, foundations, public institutions, educational establishments, and interest groups. The foundation combines financial grants with personal support from sponsors at Bankhaus Metzler to ensure networking, knowledge transfer, and long-term impact.
Applications can be submitted by January 15 and August 15 each year. Requirements include a precise project description detailing scope, duration, and financing, a cost calculation specifying the desired grant portion, as well as a current tax exemption certificate from the tax office and proof of bank account details. Exclusions apply to individual case assistance, sports projects, film financing, printing subsidies, and individual scholarships. Selection criteria include alignment with the foundation’s objectives, sustainable impact, quality of project planning, and networking potential. Initiatives that raise additional donations through the “1 + 1 = 3” Matching Fund Plus model benefit from a bonus from the foundation. This concept encourages greater involvement of sponsors and the public to jointly maximize the impact of non-profit projects.
