Description

The ALTERNAID Foundation for People in Need provides financial and material grants nationwide to non-profit organizations and public institutions for projects dedicated to supporting people in need. The focus is particularly on children, adolescents, and their families, whose essential basic needs are to be secured. The funded thematic areas include social affairs, health, education, vocational training, development cooperation, and rural development. The goal is to provide help for self-help and create sustainable prospects—whether through healthcare, family support measures, or access to school and vocational education. The foundation supports initiatives both domestically and abroad and places great emphasis on forward-looking cooperation without financial dependencies.

For funding, an initial email inquiry (maximum two A4 pages) is required, based on which the foundation decides on the fundamental eligibility for funding. Subsequently, the complete application documents are sent by email. Key criteria include the principle of "help for self-help," autonomous self-administration by the project leaders, transparent use of funds, and a model or pilot character. Additionally, voluntary engagement as well as secured financing or self-financing after the funding period are advantageous. To ensure an efficient process, the foundation refrains from unsolicited applications and in-kind donations and relies on close, personal coordination with the project leaders. With this structure, the ALTERNAID Foundation ensures that funding reaches where it can have a long-term impact.
