The goal is the sustainable strengthening of training, continuing education, and advanced training offerings in neonatology and pediatric intensive care medicine, as well as the promotion of research, innovation, and international networking. Through consistent benefit assessment and effectiveness monitoring, the foundation places great emphasis on result-oriented allocation of funds.

Eligible for funding are public institutions, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions with a nationwide scope that implement projects aimed at the direct or indirect improvement of care and support for premature and sick newborns. Consideration is given to medical, nursing, and educational measures as well as specialized training for professionals. The selection criteria include sustainability, benefit assessment, and the achievement of project objectives. Applications can be submitted continuously and initially consist of a brief outline; after positive review, applicants are invited to submit a detailed funding application.
