Project Funding from the Erwin and Gisela von Steiner Foundation

Since 1990, the Erwin and Gisela von Steiner Foundation has been supporting artistic projects in the greater Munich area with a duration of up to twelve months. The focus is on publicly presented exhibitions, artistic projects, as well as the publication of catalogs and artist books. The grant exclusively supports projects whose location and timing are already fixed and that have a sustainable impact in the cultural and media sectors. Applications are submitted via an online form by March 12, 2026, supplemented by a concise PDF document including a project description, drafts, budget and financing plan, technical details for publications, and an artistic portfolio including a CV.

Eligible for funding are artists with a completed degree from a recognized art academy or with proven exhibition activity, who live in the (greater) Munich area or whose projects are realized there. Students at art academies or universities are excluded from applying. The requested funds must be drawn within two years of approval, and the project implementation must be completed within one year at the latest. The funding will be acknowledged in all publications with the note “with kind support from:” along with the foundation’s logo. Application documents may not exceed ten megabytes or a maximum of 25 pages.
