The focus is on the Ruhr area, although the foundation can also fund international projects within the scope of its foundation purpose. Innovative mediation methods and participatory approaches that expand cultural participation and open up new access points are supported. The funding approach includes both non-material and material grants and is ongoing as long as funds are available for the respective funding year. Non-profit organizations without a direct state educational or instructional mandate may submit their applications at any time to contribute to the improvement and broadening of cultural life.
For a successful application, all required documents according to the guidelines must be attached: a cover sheet with project title, duration, sponsor data, legal form, and non-profit status; a detailed project description including approach, target group, and measures; a timeline or milestone overview; a budget listing with financing plan; as well as partner declarations (if available). Evaluation is based on criteria such as innovation, model character, sustainability, efficiency, and PR impact. The program’s goal is to promote civil society initiatives of all age groups and to strengthen social cohesion through art- and culture-related projects.
