Description
The nationwide project funding of Bewahrtes Leben – Foundation for Remembrance and Peace supports civil society initiatives, associations, and educational institutions in initiating sustainable processes in the fields of peace education, culture of remembrance, and the preservation of war gravesites. Nearly 100 projects are awarded financial grants annually to realize youth and school work, exhibitions, publications, as well as study trips and work camps. Applications can be submitted continuously and require a registered office or place of activity in Germany, as well as a project concept that serves the promotion of peace and the preservation of historical sites. Evaluation focuses particularly on the long-term impact, the substantive relevance for culture of remembrance and peace work, and the practical feasibility of the projects.
For submission, a detailed project description, a transparent financing plan, and later a proof of use must be provided. Public institutions, non-profit organizations, and educational providers benefit from the expertise and networking of the sponsor, which cooperates closely with the German War Graves Commission (Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge). Projects related to exhibitions, remembrance work, school projects, and specialist events can be applied for at any time and make an important contribution against forgetting as well as for a reflective coexistence. Interested initiatives thus have the opportunity to implement independently or collaboratively designed projects aimed at a sustainable impact in peace and remembrance culture.
