Description

The project funding of the Weser-Ems Water Protection Foundation supports interest groups, associations, companies, cooperatives, foundations, public and non-profit institutions, as well as educational institutions from Bremen and Lower Saxony in measures related to water protection. Non-repayable grants are provided for projects aimed at the remediation and improvement of groundwater and inland water quality, soil protection and filtration functions, sustainable water use, as well as environmental education and public relations in accordance with the European Water Framework Directive. The duration is generally limited to 24 months; own funds or contributions in kind are desired. Funds may be used for planning, implementation, public relations, and evaluation, but not for financing or general operating costs unrelated to the project. The foundation places value on practical concepts with sustainable impact, promotion of volunteer work, broad public outreach, and transferability. Transparent use of funds and coherent cost planning are prerequisites for a successful application.

Applications can be submitted at any time using the official PDF form and require a project description, cost and financing plan with specified own contribution, schedule, proof of own contributions, if applicable official permits, as well as comparative offers starting from €10,000 and the statutes or rules of procedure of the applicant. The decision is made by the foundation’s board or, for amounts over €10,000, by the advisory board. A coherent concept, verifiable documentation, and sustainable continuation secure the grant. Eligible applicants receive advice from the foundation regarding the application process and benefit from ongoing funding opportunities without a fixed submission deadline.
