Description
The program “Project Funding within the Program for the Development and Exploration of the Arts (PEEK)” enables educational and public institutions throughout Austria (Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) to receive continuous support for time-limited, non-profit-oriented artistic-scientific research projects. The focus is on innovative arts-based research approaches that develop novel questions and methods. Applications are submitted continuously via the electronic ELANE portal; an informal deadline structure offers applicants maximum flexibility. Funding covers personnel and material costs (equipment, materials, travel, and project-specific expenses), but no infrastructure costs. Projects may run for up to 48 months and are expected to demonstrate high quality and novelty through internationally anchored peer review. Key evaluation criteria include innovation, scientific methodology and feasibility, qualifications of participants, as well as ethical and gender aspects. A prerequisite is an artistic-scientific qualification, sufficient available working capacity, and accessible infrastructure at an Austrian research institution. Participation of associated research partners as well as national and international cooperation partners is possible.
The PEEK funding call is aimed at all arts-scientifically active individuals with the corresponding academic or artistic profile. It increases the visibility of Austrian arts-based researchers and strengthens the FWF research landscape in the field of aesthetic basic research. To submit an application, an abstract, a project description with attachments (bibliography, budget plan, CVs), and publication lists must be uploaded. An optional listing of possible but not desired reviewers is permitted. The advisory board decides biannually based on international peer reviews. With PEEK, Austrian art and research landscapes gain new momentum – an invitation to make innovative artistic research visible internationally.
