Description

The project funding of the Liebelt Foundation supports independent and exceptional positions in contemporary visual arts in northern and eastern Germany (Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein). Non-profit organizations, educational institutions, interest groups, and associations can apply for grants for the production, presentation, and mediation of artistic works. Art historical research projects, publications, and symposia are also supported to open new perspectives on artistic processes. Special attention is given to conservation and restoration measures for the preservation of artworks as well as to innovation-promoting project ideas that create spaces for public debates between art and society.

Project applications can be submitted at any time; for the sessions in May and November, the submission deadlines are March 15 and September 15, respectively. The submission must include a fully completed and signed application form, a project outline (maximum three pages), and a clear cost and financing plan. For scholarship applications, a statement from a professor must be added to the documents. The Liebelt Foundation regularly reviews the submissions and grants funding in accordance with its statutory objectives. Through continuous support of artists, curators, scholars, students, and cultural institutions, the understanding of visual arts is strengthened and a sustainable dialogue between art practitioners and the public is encouraged.
