Description
With support from the Carinthian Nature Conservation Levy and compensation funds, a variety of nature conservation measures are promoted in Carinthia that serve the objectives of the Carinthian Nature Conservation Act (K-NSG 2002) and related legal provisions at the state, federal, and EU levels. Grants are available, for example, for development and maintenance measures, basic investigations, public relations work, as well as contractual nature conservation programs. The purchase or lease of land for the long-term protection of valuable habitats can also be co-financed. Funding is provided continuously in the form of one-time grants and contributes to the sustainable implementation of environmental and climate protection projects as well as strengthening regional biodiversity.
Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons, including companies, cooperatives, non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, and public institutions with headquarters or project locations in Carinthia. A prerequisite for a funding commitment is a detailed project description with objectives, a timeline and financing plan including a cost breakdown, as well as the submission of comparative offers (two offers up to €10,000 net, three offers above). For area-related measures, properties and cadastral communities must be specified. Supplementary evidence such as trade licenses, company register excerpts, technical capability, certificates of good conduct, and a sworn declaration of the absence of insolvency proceedings must be submitted if required. Already granted funding for the same project must be transparently disclosed to avoid double financing. Project documents must be submitted in full two weeks prior to the advisory board meetings held three times annually. Deadlines start on 01.12.2025 and run indefinitely, with exact dates announced at the beginning of each year.
