Description
The project funding for universities and colleges provided by the Berdelle Foundation for Science, Culture, and Technology supports public universities nationwide as well as, under certain conditions, recognized private non-profit institutions. The aim is to strengthen science, research, and education in the fields of natural sciences and technology. Special attention is given to innovative projects in mechanical engineering, medical and biotechnology, as well as pump, fluid, and conveyor technology. Funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and can be used, among other things, for publications, organizing events, acquiring equipment and teaching materials, as well as for personnel. Applications are generally to be submitted twice a year by July 31 and October 31; smaller projects under €20,000 may, in exceptional cases, be applied for at any time.
A prerequisite for application is the submission of a fully completed online form in the applicant portal. The application must be accompanied by a cover letter with a brief project description and timeline, as well as a detailed financing plan specifying all intended sources and uses of funds. After the deadline, a two-month review process takes place, during which the foundation assesses the alignment with its funding objectives, the feasibility of the project, and the budget’s conformity with the plan. Successful projects are approved in writing and obligate the funded institution to proper use of funds and reporting. This funding offers universities an attractive opportunity to sustainably advance their research projects and make scientific findings accessible to a broad professional audience.
