Description
The project funding provided by the UN Refugee Aid offers non-profit organizations in Germany financial support for the implementation of projects that help refugees achieve a self-determined and dignified life. The focus is on the areas of legal advice, psychosocial care, and integration measures. In particular, projects targeting vulnerable groups such as women, children, and people with disabilities are supported. Funding is provided in the form of a grant amounting to up to €30,000 per year and covering up to 49% of the total costs of a project. A prerequisite is that the applicants are recognized as non-profit organizations and can demonstrate prior experience in refugee work. Furthermore, applicants commit to attending a mandatory consultation appointment before submission to ensure optimal alignment and implementation of the measures.
The funding program supports a wide range of measures – from legal advice and support in asylum procedures to psychosocial interventions and integrative offerings. Eligible expenses include fees, personnel costs, and material costs, allowing the allocated funds to be flexibly tailored to the specific project needs. Applications are submitted digitally using standardized forms, which also include the financial plan as well as supplementary documents such as statutes, annual reports, or cooperation agreements. Through the clear financial allocation, where unused funds are proportionally refunded in the case of underspending, transparent use of funds is also ensured.
The funding is aimed at organizations that are intensively and sustainably committed to people in precarious life situations. In addition to ongoing projects in the areas of legal and social counseling, events can also be supported within the framework of a separate funding loan. With a maximum duration of 12 months, projects are selected that not only advance the direct support of refugees but also contribute to raising societal awareness and further qualifying actors in refugee work. This targeted funding thus strengthens the network of aid organizations and contributes to the long-term improvement of the living conditions of refugees in Germany.
