Description

Since 2007, the Jörg Bernards Foundation has been supporting outstanding research projects nationwide in the field of minimally invasive, image-guided stereotactic neurosurgery. Funding is provided to educational institutions, non-profit, and public organizations that develop innovative approaches for the diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of brain tumors as well as neurological diseases. The foundation is entirely financed through donations and the proceeds from a multi-family house contributed to the foundation’s capital and directs all funds to the projects without deducting administrative costs. Applications can be submitted continuously, with the selection of fewer but particularly impactful research initiatives carried out by the foundation’s board in cooperation with scientific advisors. The goal is to promote medical-technical and data-driven procedures that enable gentle therapies and sustainably improve patients’ quality of life.

In particular, scientists and clinical researchers from neurosurgery, molecular medicine, or computational biology benefit from the grants to advance pioneering projects such as AI-supported interventions for age-associated diseases, microbubble-based drug delivery systems, or the development of precise imaging atlases. Through the continuous allocation of funds, progress in therapy safety and efficacy is promoted, and interdisciplinary collaborations are strengthened. Interested institutions can find comprehensive information on funding guidelines and application procedures on the foundation’s website. Thus, the Jörg Bernards Foundation makes a significant contribution to the advancement of stereotactic neurosurgery and helps decisively increase the chances of cure for patients with complex neurological disorders.
