Description
Since 1988, the Jürgen Manchot Foundation has supported highly qualified doctoral candidates from medicine, biology related to human medicine, chemistry, and economics through a biannual doctoral scholarship. In addition to pure scholarship funding, material resources are also provided upon request to procure the necessary equipment and apparatus for the research project. The aim of this funding is to strengthen scientific excellence and to support young talents in independently advancing their innovative research ideas. The scholarship thus offers a solid foundation to promote the next generation of researchers in key disciplines and to help their work gain greater reach and impact.
Eligible for funding are privately enrolled doctoral candidates with above-average academic or research achievements who can demonstrate a relevant doctoral project. A prerequisite is the timely submission of the application by April 15 or October 15 to the foundation’s office. Only scientific excellence and the applicants’ performance are evaluated. An information sheet, currently available upon request, summarizes all funding requirements and explains the scope of eligible expenses. Through transparent review by the board of trustees, the executive board, and, if applicable, a scientific advisory board, a fair allocation is ensured that serves exclusively the advancement of research. The biannual call invites dedicated early-career researchers to implement their projects in a long-term and responsible manner.
