Description
The state funding for newly installed photovoltaic systems in Vienna is aimed at private individuals with their main residence in the federal capital who wish to contribute to climate protection and energy efficiency. The goal is to support investments in decentralized electricity generation from renewable energy sources in grid-parallel operation. Funding is provided for, among other things, modules including mounting frames, installation work, piping, fittings, control and regulation devices, measuring equipment, as well as planning and consulting services and expert reports. A prerequisite is proof of at least 800 full-load hours annually (or 500 hours for vertically mounted systems), the possibility of feeding into the public grid, and the application must be submitted before ordering the system or starting construction. The funding rate amounts to up to 45% of eligible expenses. The implementation period is 24 months from approval; however, it should be noted that the budget for 2025 is already exhausted and no approvals can currently be granted. Applications remain valid indefinitely and can be submitted immediately once funds become available again.
Applications are submitted via Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH and require an offer from a professional company for the installation of the system, a projected annual green electricity yield, if applicable an MGWB certificate for taller buildings, as well as a photo ID. Court costs, financing costs, and land costs are not eligible for funding. After a positive decision, a written funding contract is concluded, which specifies all deadlines, conditions, and disbursement modalities. The final payment is made after successful final accounting and review. This program makes an important contribution to achieving the goals of the Vienna Funding Guidelines 2023 by motivating private actors to invest in sustainable energy generation and to reduce CO₂ emissions in the long term.
