Description

The studio residency “Neighborhood Artists (m/f/d)” of the SAGA GWG Stiftung Nachbarschaft has been supporting artistic creation with a direct neighborhood focus in Hamburg for over 17 years. In the current funding cycle, the Dulsberg district is the focus: professionally active artists receive a monthly stipend of €1,500 to cover living expenses as well as production funds of up to €10,000. Additionally, the foundation provides a studio free of charge and, if needed, accommodation within the neighborhood. The goal is sustainable cultural revitalization through close collaboration between neighborhood artists and residents. Participatory formats and dialogue projects foster a lively exchange that makes the district visible and actively involves its inhabitants.

Eligible to participate are privately practicing artists with proven artistic practice and an interest in cooperative projects within the neighborhood. Selection is based on artistic quality, neighborhood relevance, and involvement of residents. Convincing concepts are expected that strengthen socio-cultural networks and reinterpret public space. Applications can be submitted continuously; current call details and application documents are available on the foundation’s website. The program offers not only financial support but also spatial and organizational frameworks that sustainably promote creative processes in the district and strengthen local cohesion.
