Description
The funding program "Regional Open Disability Work" in Bavaria supports non-profit organizations active in the field of outpatient assistance for people with significant intellectual and/or physical disabilities as well as for sensory-impaired or chronically ill individuals. With the aim of creating low-threshold services, the program funds measures that strengthen the social participation and independent living of these groups. Particular emphasis is placed on an appropriately chosen ratio of population size to professional and administrative staff. The grant is provided as a subsidy covering personnel costs, material expenses, and initial equipment costs, supporting the work of the regional Open Disability Work services in carrying out their diverse tasks.
The funding is aimed at legally recognized, non-profit associations and affiliated organizations that have proven themselves in disability work and employ qualified professional staff. The targeted services include, among others, general counseling and coordination offers, the implementation of leisure, educational, and social encounter activities, as well as specialized family support services. The providers must also implement quality assurance measures to meet the high standards of inclusive care. The application includes, among other things, a financing plan, detailed overviews of eligible personnel, and, for initial applications, a well-founded concept and professional statement. A special aspect of this program is the close cooperation with the responsible district governments and state associations, which monitor compliance with personnel and material requirements.
As part of the funding, lump-sum grants are paid, which are based on the collective wage developments in the public sector as well as the specific requirements of the respective district or independent city. The funding lump sums differentiate, for example, between professional staff and other employees, thus allowing flexible adaptation to the needs of the regional services. Furthermore, initial applications must be submitted by March 31 and follow-up applications by November 15 of the previous year—deadlines that promote structured and forward-looking planning. Overall, this program offers an excellent opportunity to expand high-quality, inclusion-oriented support structures in the social and health sectors, which in the long term contributes to relieving families and strengthening the independence of those affected.
